With the bright sunshine, the views throughout the day were spectacular. Here we are near the start of our second day's walk near Walkers Hill overlooking The Vale of Pewsey.

The final photo of this set is at the summit of Walkers Hill at the end of our second day's walk. It may not look much of an effort but it felt quite an achievement especially after our tea and cakes a little earlier!

 Before we set off for the day’s walk we thanked Barbara for her hard work in arranging this two day get-away. We enjoyed blue skies and Spring sunshine all day and of course the welcome sunshine made all the views and colours so much more spectacular. The Alton Barnes White Horse hill carving was visible to us for much of the day. There were many ancient earthworks and Dykes along our route today and the Kennet and Avon Canal featured several times with attractive waterside plants and insects and a heron providing further interest. We walked across a swing footbridge at Allington and said hello to the couple with the wide beam canal boat from yesterday which was still gently cruising along. Lunch was in the attractive All Cannings village but the pub and village shop were closed. In mid afternoon we stopped at the Honeystreet Saw Mill complex where we read about the mysteries of crop circles and some of us over-indulged in their magnificent tea room. However the payback for a big tea was when we had to climb to the top of Walkers Hill, near the end of the walk. The views were excellent from the top, though and worth the effort to conquer this hill!

We returned to the hotel to gather luggage and regroup before setting off back home. It had been a lovely couple of days away.
