On Saturday evening, 6th December, our annual Christmas gathering was held in St. Martin’s Church Hall in Ruislip. As with the previous few years, it was a quiz evening with pizza and salad served at half time. Barbara and Lesley were in charge of the catering and we were all amply fed. The salads were excellent again this year. The hall was warm and bright and we organised ourselves into tables of six. It was good to meet members of other walking groups who we don’t see so often. As usual there was a Marathon round where each table had three different papers to complete throughout the course of the evening. There was an anagram paper of different countries, a wildlife and farm crops identification paper and a Bridges of London paper. Trying to memorise the London Underground map this year didn’t help! The evening passed quickly and enjoyably with six rounds of other questions. The questions were set and asked by Rob and Jenny. Stephen Wright had arranged the evening but unfortunately was unwell and couldn’t attend. This year the winning table was Table 3 and they are pictured here. It was good to see Angela here helping to bring her table to victory despite her current mobility problems.
