12 of us joined Barbara at Chorleywood station feeling optimistic about the prospect of finding bluebells on this lovely spring morning. We were delighted to see Lesley M again and also welcomed back Pria who previously joined a Walk ‘n Talk round Ruislip and Debbie, an occasional Hillingdon walker.

We headed out through Chorleywood Common and into Chorleywood House Estate where we passed very close to Chorleywood House and had a good view of Lady Ela’s Summerhouse.  Although the main house is not open to the public the surrounding grounds are free to roam and offer picturesque gardens and woodland trails. We admired a one hundred and fifty year old wisteria which would be well worth a return visit to see it in flower.

We were soon enjoying the sight and scent of bluebells as we passed through various woodland areas. At Chenies the footpath took us past a quirky old cottage that appears to share its front garden with the Red Lion Pub next door.

We followed the official River Chess walk for a while and then headed towards Sarratt for a picnic lunch in the woods. After lunch there were more bluebells to enjoy and spring lambs in the fields. We took a different path back to the start point through Chorleywood House Estate and the Common.
Many thanks to Barabara for leading this very enjoyable walk.
